Higher Risk Workplaces and Occupations

There is some evidence that risk factors can be be brought into work. For example, if you employ young men from the north west of Australia then you might be more likely to recruit higher risk drinkers than if you recruited women aged 40+ from the south east of Australia. This is because, in general, young men drink more than older women, and people in the NW of Australia drink more than people living in the SE of Australia. This emphasises that community patterns of alcohol/drug use influence workplace risk.

There is also evidence that workplace factors contribute to hazardous and harmful drug use.

Write down some of the workplace factors that you think might influence the possibility of alcohol and other drug related problems.
